Returning To My Prime Point
My father introduced me to Nichiren Buddhism when I was a child.
But honestly, I did not take the practice seriously until 2016.
At that time, I was going through a prolonged phase of unemployment.
Mentally, I felt completely exhausted.
I was:
Constantly anxious
Restless
Overthinking about the future
I had started losing confidence in myself.
During that difficult period, fellow Young Men’s Division members encouraged me sincerely.
They told me:
“Chant sincerely and give your 100 percent wherever you are.”
I decided to follow that guidance wholeheartedly.
Within a few weeks, I secured a job as a sales executive in a reputed company.
That breakthrough became my first real experience of the power of this practice.
Growing Stronger Through Difficult Work Environments
The new role, however, was far from easy.
There was:
No proper training
No structured support
Constant uncertainty
To make matters harder, I was hired under third-party payroll.
Six months later, the company merged with a larger organization.
Most employees resigned during the transition.
But I decided not to quit.
My determination to continue despite the chaos was noticed by the zone sales head.
Gradually, new opportunities started emerging.
Meanwhile, I also took greater responsibility in Gakkai activities.
I was appointed:
District chief
Statistics incharge
I also actively supported Value Creation subscriptions.
Through these responsibilities, I slowly became:
More disciplined
More organized
More responsible
Externally, my career still looked unstable.
But internally, I was becoming stronger.
Searching For Meaningful Work
In 2019, I attended the BSG General Meeting.
That experience deeply impacted me.
After returning, I realized something uncomfortable:
The company I was working for did not align with my values.
So I resigned immediately.
At that point, however, I constantly blamed my circumstances and environment for my struggles.
My fellow comrades encouraged me to chant with more specific prayers.
For the first time, I clearly defined what kind of work-life I truly wanted.
I prayed for:
A balanced work environment
Time for family
Weekends off
Time for Gakkai activities
In 2021, I joined a reputed paint company.
But once again, challenges arose.
Due to micromanagement and confusion, I left within five months.
My health also suffered during that period.
Even after completing courses in:
Power BI
SQL
I still could not find suitable work.
I felt completely lost.
Returning To Daimoku With Fresh Determination
During that difficult phase, one guidance from Ikeda Sensei deeply encouraged me:
“If our hearts are burning with hope and courage at all times and filled with the spirit of challenge, we’ll be brimming with joy and vigor no matter what our situation. This is true happiness.”
(‘Treasure of Life’, NHR-22, 310)
I decided to challenge my situation with fresh determination.
I began chanting abundant daimoku — sometimes up to 10 hours daily.
I also immersed myself deeply in Gakkai activities.
Instead of isolating myself in discouragement, I strengthened my faith more than ever before.
Then on May 3rd, 2022, after tremendous daimoku and sincere efforts for kosen-rufu, I secured a job as a Business Development Manager in my friend’s company.
What amazed me was that the role matched almost every prayer I had made earlier.
For me, it became undeniable proof of the benefit of this practice.
Visible Benefits Begin To Appear
Gradually, several long-standing prayers also began getting fulfilled.
I:
Got married
Bought a car
Built a room on my rooftop dedicated for kosen-rufu activities
Since 2023, I have also been making regular monthly financial contributions.
I received a 10-percent salary hike as well.
In May 2024, I was appointed YMD Region Chief.
Looking back, I realized that the biggest transformation was not external success.
It was the growth of confidence within me.
Another Major Career Challenge
Last year, I joined a US- and India-based recruitment company as a Client Partner.
Professionally, it felt like a major step forward.
I also took responsibility as Deputy Zone Chief.
Then in August 2025, I entered one of the toughest phases of my career.
I struggled badly with onboarding clients.
The pressure began affecting business performance.
Although my boss did not directly pressure me, internally I felt overwhelmed.
At the same time:
My wife was pregnant
Financial responsibilities were increasing
EMIs were mounting
Slowly, I began losing confidence again.
Even while chanting, I felt no joy.
It genuinely felt like I was passing through a dark tunnel without any visible light.
Turning The Workplace Into My Arena Of Human Revolution
Then one guidance from Ikeda Sensei completely shifted my mindset.
Sensei encouraged us to regard the workplace as the greatest arena for human revolution.
That line awakened my fighting spirit again.
Instead of fearing failure, I focused on improving myself.
I:
Worked on communication skills
Learned sales strategies
Improved objection handling
Learned directly from my boss
At the same time, I intensified my Gakkai efforts.
I supported:
FD and YMD study meetings
Entrance exam encouragement
Subscription efforts
Statistics management
Travel coordination
Home visits
As my rhythm in faith returned, visible changes slowly began appearing at work.
After Diwali, I onboarded 10 clients at once.
Even my leadership team was shocked.
When colleagues asked me how I managed the turnaround, I spoke openly about my Buddhist practice and shared Ikeda Sensei’s guidance on remaining unswayed by the “eight winds.”
A Fresh Breakthrough
Gradually, greater trust began developing at work.
Our CEO:
Sent me to SHRM 2025 in Delhi
Entrusted me with greater leadership responsibilities
Approved another 10-percent salary hike
Looking back now, I realize that the true victory was not merely securing a better career.
It was learning how to stand up repeatedly despite fear, uncertainty, and self-doubt.
A Line That Stayed With Me
“If our hearts are burning with hope and courage at all times and filled with the spirit of challenge, we’ll be brimming with joy and vigor no matter what our situation.”
Reflection
Many young professionals silently struggle with:
Career instability
Fear of failure
Lack of direction
Loss of confidence
My journey taught me that external circumstances do not change overnight.
But when we continue chanting, improving ourselves, and encouraging others sincerely, our inner life condition becomes stronger.
And once our inner foundation changes, opportunities begin appearing naturally.
I also learned that work itself can become a powerful place for human revolution.
Every challenge at work can teach us:
Patience
Communication
Wisdom
Resilience
Key Takeaways
Consistent daimoku helps rebuild confidence.
Career setbacks can become opportunities for growth.
Human revolution begins by changing oneself first.
Faith and action together create visible results.
Supporting others strengthens one’s own life condition.
Forward With Determination
Today, with deep gratitude to Sensei, my family, my wife Shraddha, and all the members who supported me, I determine to:
Study consistently with YMD members in my zone
Accomplish five shakubukus by March 16th, 2026
Foster capable successors for kosen-rufu in Belagavi Zone
Above all, I determine to continue advancing with courage, never allowing fear or self-doubt to define my life again.
Inspired by a published Buddhist experience and retold with commentary, reflection, and adapted storytelling.
