How I Transformed Resistance Into Support Through Faith

My father introduced me to Nichiren Buddhism when I was just six years old.

At that age, I understood very little.

But somehow, the rhythm of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo quietly stayed in my heart.

Years later, when I failed Grade 11 and felt completely hopeless, my father calmly told me:

“Just chant for 10 days.”

I did.

And by the fifth day, something inside me shifted.

Hope returned.

That became the first real turning point in my life.

Discovering Joy In Faith

I officially joined faith in 2009 during my first year of college.

I loved attending meetings, supporting YWD members, and immersing myself in Gakkai activities.

After graduating in Fashion Designing, I started my own business.

But in 2016, the business collapsed completely.

At first, I thought my dreams had ended.

But looking back now, that failure redirected my life toward a much deeper mission.

My Father’s Recovery Strengthened My Faith

In 2018, my father met with a severe accident and developed multiple blood clots.

Doctors predicted that recovery would take months.

But through determined prayer and tremendous daimoku, he started walking again within just 18 days.

That experience engraved Sensei’s guidance deeply into my life:

“When we change our inner determination, everything begins to move.”

(Hope Is a Decision)

From then onward, I began trusting the power of inner transformation much more deeply.

Reinventing Myself During COVID

During the COVID-19 period, I reinvented myself completely.

I started learning:

Video editing

Content creation

Plant-based cooking

Sustainable lifestyle practices

I also started collaborating with one of India’s leading plant-based doctors.

Gradually, my life direction shifted toward healing and wellness.

Marriage Became My Greatest Challenge

In 2022, I met my husband through an arranged setup.

Initially, he seemed open toward my Buddhist practice.

But just two weeks before the wedding, everything changed suddenly.

He clearly stated that he did not want Buddhism in his life.

I panicked.

I even wondered whether I should cancel the wedding.

When I sought guidance, my senior simply told me:

“You pray and decide.”

Through daimoku, I realized this was not a sign to run away.

It was an opportunity for me to undergo deeper human revolution.

Chanting In Secret

Soon after marriage, my father was diagnosed with cancer.

At the same time, challenges inside my married life intensified.

I was now living in a joint family of 14 members.

I could not chant openly.

Arguments regarding my practice became frequent.

I lost my job.

I lost my income.

My health also began deteriorating.

But despite everything, I made one firm determination:

I will not abandon my faith or my Soka family.

Even if only briefly, I attended every discussion and Gosho meeting possible.

I chanted:

In bathrooms

On terraces

Inside parked cars

In public parks

Sometimes, those hidden moments became my deepest prayers.

Building Joy One Home Visit At A Time

As a YWD Zone Chief supporting a district as an HDC, I faced another challenge.

We had:

Very few active leaders

No active SD or YL leaders

Weak meeting attendance

Honestly, I often wondered where to even begin.

So I simplified my determination:

One day. One meeting. One home visit at a time.

Slowly, our zone began changing.

We revived meetings.

Youth energy started returning.

New YWD leaders emerged.

Future Division and Student Division activities strengthened after years of stagnation.

At the same time, my inner life was also transforming.

Turning Pain Into Mission

My father’s cancer battle became a powerful source of strength for me.

When he later suffered a mild heart attack, I challenged myself to chant three hours and twenty minutes daily for 10 consecutive days.

He recovered without requiring any invasive procedure.

That experience deepened my conviction even more.

My Mission Expanded

Parallel to all these struggles, I continued creating content around:

Health

Food

Lifestyle

Sustainability

For nearly three years, my social media remained stuck at around 3,000 followers.

Then one video suddenly went viral and crossed 13 million views.

Almost overnight, my followers jumped dramatically.

Today, that number has crossed 27,000.

But more important than numbers was the realization that my struggle itself had become my mission.

I decided to become a health coach and help people lead joyful, pain-free lives.

I first healed myself.

After marriage, I had gained significant weight and lost confidence physically and emotionally.

Through discipline and faith, I lost 15 kilograms and completed a nature-cure course entirely using my own savings.

Without any promotions or advertisements, people began approaching me naturally.

Till today, I have helped more than 100 people improve chronic health conditions through food and lifestyle changes.

Small Actions Creating Big Change

At one point, I also began cleaning litter daily from my society’s park.

Initially, I did it alone.

Then an 84-year-old lady joined me.

Later, two youngsters also started helping.

Within one month, we collected nearly 50 kilograms of trash.

Those simple actions opened beautiful dialogues about sustainability, responsibility, and Buddhism within the community.

The Prayer I Waited Three Years For

Then, on May 9, 2025, after three years of marriage, something incredible happened.

My husband finally agreed to the enshrinement of the Gohonzon at home.

For the first time, I no longer had to hide while chanting.

I cried tears of gratitude.

Another Obstacle, Another Victory

Just two days before the YWD Formation Meeting in July, my mother suddenly suffered half-body paralysis due to multiple blood clots.

I was shaken deeply.

But once again, I challenged the situation through wholehearted daimoku.

Within two days, she was discharged and began recovering faster than expected.

Despite everything, I attended the YWD Formation Commemorative Meeting with my sister, while my brother joined the YMD meeting.

Three regions in our zone conducted joyful YWD meetings successfully.

At the same time, my husband — who once resisted my practice — began supporting me wholeheartedly.

Today, he even drives me to meetings.

And in October 2025, he attended his first discussion meeting.

That moment filled my heart with overwhelming gratitude.

My Greatest Transformation

The girl who once struggled to pay her phone bill now stands independently as:

A health coach

A sustainability influencer

A speaker

A visiting faculty member

A plant-based cook

A video editor

A zero-waste practitioner

But my greatest victory is not professional success.

It is that I never abandoned faith even during my darkest period.
