Becoming a Transformative Force

In 2004, at the age of 18, I was diagnosed with kidney failure. At the same time, my father, who was battling schizophrenia, was cheated by a business partner, causing our family's primary source of income to collapse. Financial hardship, illness, and family disharmony engulfed our lives. Yet it was amidst this deep suffering that I encountered Nichiren Buddhism.

I was deeply encouraged by Ikeda Sensei’s guidance to live a life in which I could use my sufferings to inspire others and build an unshakable inner self. During the six years that I underwent dialysis three times every week, daimoku and my fellow leaders’ encouragement based on Sensei’s guidance became my lifeline.

Despite my health condition, I challenged myself never to retreat from faith. I attended every meeting possible, conducted home visits to encourage YMD members, and wholeheartedly fulfilled my responsibilities. After being inducted as a Sokahan, I regarded every duty as direct training from Ikeda Sensei and never missed a single assignment.

Transforming My Health and Career

In 2012, I underwent a successful kidney transplant. Although my activities remained restricted for nearly a year afterward, I refused to let my health determine my future. Because of prolonged illness, I had not yet established a stable career or source of income.

I made a firm determination to prove the validity of the Mystic Law by building my career in Kolkata itself, despite its limited employment opportunities. Rather than focusing on my own difficulties, I continued exerting myself wholeheartedly for kosen-rufu.

In mid-2013, at the age of 27, I began my career as a freelance corporate trainer. This breakthrough strengthened my conviction that sincere efforts for kosen-rufu always create causes for victory.

Adopting the Trailblazing Spirit

By 2017, I was taking full responsibility to actualize every BSG campaign through shakubuku, member care, fostering youth, and the study of The New Human Revolution . During this period, I had the great fortune of attending the Kyushu Training Course, made possible through the financial benefit of being selected for a major corporate training project despite many more experienced trainers competing for it.

Experiencing the spirit of senku —being a trailblazer of trailblazers—and learning to cherish each individual from Sensei's land fundamentally transformed my attitude toward daily practice.

Returning to India, I immersed myself in Gakkai activities with renewed joy and determination.

I resolved to encourage at least one YMD or Future Division member every day. Working together with members from every division, many capable youth leaders emerged and began supporting Future Division and Student Division activities as well.

One after another, YMD members reported victories over unemployment, financial hardship, drug addiction, and depression. Student Division members entered their desired colleges and secured their dream jobs. Our zone repeatedly achieved the highest discussion meeting attendance and Value Creation subscriptions across East India.

Within just eight months, I introduced six people to Nichiren Buddhism, including three Future Division members.

Creating Value for Society

The unseen causes I created through faith gradually manifested as visible benefits in every aspect of my life.

From being an introverted young man with poor health, little confidence, limited communication skills, and no career direction, I became one of the youngest soft-skills trainers in my organization, conducting training programs for many of the country's leading corporate brands.

Over four years, my income increased two-and-a-half times. I earned the trust of colleagues and senior leaders alike, who frequently sought my advice on both professional and personal matters.

At home, my family's relationships became harmonious. My sister established a successful career with one of the world's leading media organizations in Kolkata. Most importantly, despite frequent travel and a demanding work schedule, I have remained healthy for the past seven years.

Another cherished prayer also came true. I received the opportunity to train young leaders working for the development of underprivileged children. Drawing upon Ikeda Sensei’s guidance and Buddhist principles, I designed a training module on happiness that has since reached more than 500 underprivileged children throughout West Bengal.

Today, I am determined to continue fighting with the spirit of "I Am That One Disciple." I will continue trailblazing kosen-rufu throughout East India by becoming a champion of daimoku, Gosho study, The New Human Revolution , and home visits.

Sensei, toward the 90th anniversary of the Soka Gakkai, I determine to bring unprecedented transformation throughout East India by building the strongest organization, fostering many capable YMD and Future Division members, and eternally protecting the noble path of Soka throughout my life.
